Graham Slick
Designer and sound practitioner in Portland, Oregon. Thirteen years designing software and campaigns, seven years leading sound ceremonies. Alike is where the two meet.
I started in New York as a creative director and UX designer at agencies, working for Columbia, Purdue, McGraw Hill Financial, Unilever brands, GE and Puma. In Portland I led product design for a solar company's software suite and designed advisor tools for a major financial services company.
In 2019 I started leading sound ceremonies as Aloka, which became Aloka Sound Bath House in 2025. Willamette Week's Best of Portland Readers' Poll named me the 2025 Winner and a 2026 Finalist for Best Sound Bath Experience, and Soho House, TEDxPortland and Lululemon have brought Aloka in for their people.
That's the unusual part. Most designers see a studio from the website in. I see it from the floor up: how people arrive, where they put their shoes, what makes them book again. I design for that whole stretch.
Why Alike? It's Aloka with two letters changed, an i for the o and an e for the a. And it says something I believe: we're all alike.
Along the way I've shown work in more than 30 art exhibitions in New York, Brooklyn and Miami, made electronic music as Oblib, and voiced a party promoter in Grand Theft Auto IV.
